ATTRACTIONS
Among the many attractions at the Cold Wet Nose show will be:-
MEGASPLASH WITH DOCKDOGS
Originating from America, where dogs leap off the side of a dock for fun! If your dog loves water then this is a definite “have a go” event that shouldn’t be missed. It’s one of the hottest new sports to come out of the States and we are really excited that they have selected the Cold Wet Nose Show to demonstrate at. Check out www.dockdogs.com for more information.
THE ESSEX DOGS DISPLAY TEAM
The Essex Dogs Display Team will be putting on their spectacular displays in
the main ring, with the dogs performing exercises related to real doggie
jobs. The central piece is the high ramp, which the dogs negotiate at top
speed - even through hoops of fire! Other highlights include controlled
attack dogs apprehend fleeing 'criminals', plus searching, retrieving,
agility races, and so much more besides. Most of the dogs in the team are
rescue dogs and the welfare of all is paramount. For more information visit

KING OF THE KONG?
You won't need to go into very serious training for these fun Olympic-style
games, although a bit of practice at home with a well-stuffed Kong certainly
won't do any harm! Try your hand (or paw) at the Extreme Kong Challenge and
the Air Kong Aim. Will your dog score a clear round in the Classic Kong
Chance? Or will he get more excited about Wetrieving the Wubba? Company of
Animals will also be offering practical workshops and Halti masterclasses
absolutely free. Dr Roger Mugford enthused, "We're delighted to be putting
on The Kong Games as part of the Cold Wet Nose Show. It's a chance for the
UK's best dog owners to show off the great relationships they share with
their best friends, while helping to raise funds for many important
charities."
GB DISC BUSTERS
We've another emerging sport for you to try - or just watch if your dog
doesn't like to fetch! GB Disc Busters will be putting on some of their
incredibly exciting games and everyone is welcome. There'll be a supply of
special discs to use (in all sizes), though if your dog already has a
favourite disc, it can still be used provided it passes the judge's safety
inspection. Every competitor gets a briefing on how and where to throw the
disc and the area will be enclosed, but ideally your dog should have a good
recall, as they need to be off-lead for this event. For the Toss'N'Fetch the
pitch is marked into zones. Points are awarded depending on which zone the
dog catches the disc in. You get extra points for an 'air catch' but the
disc must land or be caught further than 10m away to count. Everyone has 90
seconds to achieve as many throws as possible. There's also a distance
event with no time limit. You have three throws and your best one counts. An
air catch (of any distance) will beat a ground catch of any distance, which
will beat a retrieve of any distance. Check out the website for more info -

DIY AGILITY
Want to try out a live DIY agility masterclass? Simone Stephenson will be
taking small groups for practical sessions on each element of the agility
course - weave, jumps, A-frame etc. We'll also have a chance for beginners
to put all the elements together for the first time. A-Frame classes (10am
and 2.30pm); tunnel (10.30am and 3pm); jumps (12.10pm); weaves (12.40) and
run-throughs of an entire course (11am and 1.10pm). There'll be a maximum of
eight dogs per class, so hurry and reserve your place - write in with your
preferred classes.
SNIFF IT OUT
Claire Guest, pioneering trainer from Cancer Dogs UK, will be giving
masterclasses in how we can all put our dogs' noses to more use! Wouldn't it
be marvellous to train your dog to sniff out your lost car keys or the
missing TV remote?
KIDS STUFF
The Alpha Children's Training Ring will offer three training classes for
children under the age of 15, with parents present in a supporting role! It
will be focusing on tricks and games to play with your dog, so meet Sarah
Whitehead and her team of behaviour and training specialists to see what
your dog can do!
The Alpha Bring and Buy stand will be for new and as-good-as-new doggie
products, toys, books - anything that you don't want, but someone else
might! Forget eBay - this is your dog's day, so start clearing out your
cupboards and making a pile of goodies to bring along with you to the event.
DOGGY DANCING
Learn to dance with Gina Graham at the show. You'll be able to take part in
masterclasses with Gina and have a go at putting all the moves together into
the finished routine. Gina and Michelle and Carole Dodson will also be
strutting their stuff - so why not have a go yourself? Alternatively, just
watch from the sidelines in awe like everyone else!
