FLYING SAUCERS?
We've another emerging sport for you to have a go at - or just watch, if your dog doesn't like to fetch! GB Disc Busters will be putting on some incredibly exciting games - and all-comers are welcome to have a go. There will be a supply of special discs to use (in all sizes); the discs come from the States and won't crack or splinter, and some cloth ones will also be available for dogs that prefer them. If your dog already has a favourite disc, it can still be used, provided it passes the judge's safety inspection. Every competitor gets a few minutes' briefing on how and where to throw the disc and the area will be enclosed - but your dog should have a good recall, as they obviously need to be off-lead for this event. For the Toss'N'Fetch the pitch is marked into zones. Points are awarded depending on which zone the dog catches the disc in. You get extra points for an 'air catch', but the disc must land or be caught further than 10m away to count. Everyone has 90 seconds to achieve as many throws as possible. There's also a distance event with no time limit. You have three throws and your best one counts. An air catch (of any distance) will beat a ground catch of any distance, which will beat a retrieve of any distance. You book in on the day, but start practising now!
